Cinquième position pour le jeune de Longueuil en France (English below)

(France – Le 9 février, 2011) L’équipe cycliste professionnelle SpiderTech propulsée par C10 a débutée sa campagne 2012 avec style, roulant sur les nouveaux vélos Argon18, et portant les nouveaux maillots en noir et blanc, au Tour Méditerranéen 2012 en France.

C’est le jeune coureur et sprinter Guillaume Boivin de Longueuil, au Québec, qui a brillé en cette journée d’ouverture, terminant au cinquième rang de cette course qui s’est terminée en sprint du peloton.

Cette course a marquée l’arrivée chez SpiderTech des coureurs américains Bjorn Selander de Hudson, dans le Wisconsin et Caleb Fairly d'Amarillo, au Texas, arrivant à Team SpiderTech en provenance d’équipes du World Tour.

On note également le retour du cycliste de Montréal et sprinter Keven Lacombe, qui a souffert de sérieuses blessures qui ont mis fin à sa saison 2011 lors de la course du critérium aux Championnats canadiens IMMUNITY-FX 2011 en Ontario. Lacombe est passé par plusieurs interventions chirurgicales et a traversé une intense réhabilitation pour revenir en état de course.

David Boily, qui a connu une course spectaculaire pour le maillot jaune à l'édition 2011 du Tour de l'Avenir, terminant en deuxième place, a également couru cette course d'ouverture de la saison.

Le Tour Méditerranéen est une course par étapes de quatre jours d'une distance totale de 525 kilomètres de course. L'événement se poursuit jusqu'à dimanche.

« C'est formidable de voir Guillaume parmi les meneurs dès le départ. Nous ne mettons pas de pression sur les coureurs ici. Cela dit, nous participons à cette course avec un plan et c'était fantastique de voir les garçons bien exécuter le plan aujourd'hui. Keven s’est réveillé avec une nausée, ce qui l’a certainement sorti de la finale de l'étape aujourd'hui. Il s'améliore et était heureux de témoigner de la rapidité avec laquelle Guillaume est sorti des blocs aujourd’hui. Nous sommes excités de voir comment les garçons rouleront dans les deux prochaines étapes, qui semblent favorables pour les sprints. »

« Dans l'ensemble, l'équipe tentera de se réchauffer ici. Cette semaine, nous voulons que les coureurs se concentrent sur la communication, la cohésion et l'intégration des nouveaux coéquipiers. La meilleure façon d’accomplir le tout est de se concentrer sur des objectifs réels et concrets. Aujourd'hui, les garçons ont accompli avec succès ce plan. Quelques jours seront nécessaires pour aller rechercher les sentiments de course . Les résultats d’aujourd’hui sont un indicateur intéressant pour les deux prochaines étapes, et bien sûr les courses à venir. »

GUILLAUME BOIVIN SHINES IN FIRST RACE OF 2012

Young rider from Longueuil sprints to fifth place at Tour Méditerranéen in France

(France- February 9, 2012) — Team SpiderTech powered by C10 kicked started their 2012 campaign in style, on newly redesigned Argon18 bikes and wearing brand new black and white jerseys, at the 2012 Tour Méditerranéen in France.

On this opening day, youngster Guillaume Boivin of Longueil finished fifth in the opening stage which ended in a bunch sprint.

Racing for the first time under Team SpiderTech colours were American riders Bjorn Selander of Hudson, Wisconsin, and Caleb Fairly of Amarillo, Texas, both coming to SpiderTech-C10 from World Tour teams.

This race also marked the return of Montréal cyclist and sprinter Keven Lacombe, who suffered season-ending injuries in the criterium at the 2011 IMMUNITY-FX Canadian Championships. Lacombe underwent several surgeries and intense rehabilitation to return to race form.

David Boily, who had a spectacular run for the yellow jersey at the 2011 Tour de l’Avenir, finishing in second place, also raced this opening race of the season.

The Tour Méditerranéen is a four-day stage race totalling 525 km. The event continues through Sunday.

“It’s great to see Guillaume in the hunt right out of the blocks. We aren’t putting any pressure on the riders here. That said, we are racing with a plan and it was fantastic to see the boys execute well today. Keven woke up with a some nausea that definitely took him out of the finale of today’s stage. He’s improving and seeing how quick Guillaume was out of the last corner, we’re excited to see how the boys can ride in the next two stages that look favorable for sprints.”

“Overall the team is looking to knock the cobwebs out of the system here. We want the riders to focus on communication, intra-team cohesion and integrating new teammates this week. The best way to do that is to focus on some real goals though — and today the boys did that. It takes a few days to get the racing sensations back so this is an exciting indicator for the next two stages and of course the races to come.”
