During the 2010 Montreal Grand Prix, Robert Gesink attacked on the final climb and completely detached himself to take top honours. This year, as we saw during the Quebec City Grand Prix, Gesink’s explosiveness seemed neutralized by the unrivalled power of Philippe Gilbert. But after winning in Montreal a year ago, Gesink is familiar with the course and will be aiming at a repeat performance while Gilbert, with the Quebec City Grand Prix already under his belt will surely be trying for a clean sweep of La Belle Province on his quest to be the world’s number one.

Look for another strong performance from Quebecers, Dominique Rollin (FDJ) and David Veilleux (Europcar) who were 20^th and 22^nd respectively in QC.

Look for Svein Tuft and Ryan Roth (SpiderTech p/b C10) to play key roles and also look for those riders who listed as DNF in QC, including Samuel Sanchez (Euskaltel-Euskadi), to rebound on Mount Royal tomorrow afternoon.

Although Gilbert is still the odds on favorite, with a field this strong, anything is possible under the right circumstances so take your pick.
